N.O.A.H. Animal Stories!
Read about some some of our furry success stories; animals who have found loving homes thanks to N.O.A.H.! Otis From Adopter, Katy
I want to thank NOAH for understanding both Otis’s behavior and talking to us. We had been turned down when trying to adopt another dog simply because we lived in an apartment, our active lifestyle wasn’t even considered. NOAH understood that even though Otis wouldn’t have a yard to run, that he would still be cared for. Otis loves our daily morning walks (saying hello to all the other neighborhood dogs), the dog park, and hiking around Lake Padden. He will be going on his first camping trip this summer and we honestly can’t wait. We are constantly amazed at how tough he is! He is singlehandedly changing the stereotype of the timid, shaking Chihuahua.
Haifa From Adopter, Janet Haifa (previously Peppermint) is adjusting well to us and to her new home. She is healthy, fun, cute, smart, and is close to being housebroken. We are delighted to have her run around in the back yard and tear down the stairs. She is doing well around our neighbor dogs and our chickens and greet our visitors warmly. At night she sleeps in her kennel in Jakob's room, and fortunately, due to all our schedules, she is rarely left home during the day alone in the kennel. She comes when we call "Haifa, come!" -of course expecting a treat, but it is nice to know we can call her back from the street. Our backyard is fully fenced, so she runs around in her "play pen" while boys are tossing balls or keeps Sonja company while reading. She is very cuddly and loves to snuggle in the lap at night. Haifa is a great match for our family. Thank you! (Photo Courtesy of Janet Tangen)

Bella From Adopter Leslie Thank you for letting us adopt little Bella. After some research, we decided she's probably a Chihuahua-Whippet mix, and boy can she RUN. She's a wonderful, sweet, well-behaved little girl, very eager to please and cuddle, and great friends w/ all the cats and Maisy (our hound dog mix from NOAH). Bella is right at home here and we love her! Hope you can see this photo of her after her bath, wearing her new sweater.
Gracie May From Adopter Rebekah Our first night home with Gracie May was full of laughter!!! We were worried that she may have trouble getting along with our dog Joe Joe, but they seem to be getting closer everyday. Maddalyn our 1 year old daughter follows her around the house and even learned a few new words!!! HI KITTY!!!!
Dot From Adopter Gary To Laura, Emily, and everyone involved in our adoption of Edina (now Dot), Thank you so much for everything. You were very professional, thorough and informative during the adoption process. We're already very pleased with our choice of Dot. We crated her on our way home. She whined a bit initially but adjusted rather rapidly. When we got home Dash acted like a true gentleman. He showed Dot all around the house and yard. Dot sat on my lap for a bit while I was on the computer. I wondered if Dash would be jealous of Dot. He wasn't. Right now they're napping on Marj's lap. I'm sure it was a tiring day for both of them. I took some pictures. Dot has her arm around Dash. They have such similar temperaments - two peas in a pod. If what has happened so far is any indication of the future I suspect they will get along famously. It's so typical of empty nesters to treat their pets as if they are their children. And we're proud parents. Dot is a very sweet young lady. We feel very fortunate to have her as our "girl." She completes our "family." I suspect that Dot will be everything we wished for. For both us and for Dash. I believe that NOAH is an organization of impeccable standards. The service you provide is much needed. Your attentiveness to the needs of the pets you care for awaiting adoption is outstanding. Any concerns about their health are obviously treated expeditiously. NOAH doesn't overlook anything. Thank you so much for the service you provide. And once again, thank you for such a pleasant adoption experience. Fiona And Punchie from Adopter Shari On September 26, 2009 our family stopped by NOAH. It was intention to just visit the animals and say hello. When we arrived we were greeted by Fiona and Punchie (they were in the cage behind the reception desk). We continued with our visit and kept going back to check on Fiona and Punchie. Our family discussed adopting Fiona. She was quite the talker (salesperson)! She reminded us of our beloved Sammy who went to kitty heaven July 2008. We already had two other cats at home (as well as 3 dogs). We were hesitant at first but Fiona convinced us that she had to come home with us. Done deal, almost. While we were waiting for our match maker to get the paperwork together, we noticed the sign about adopting one and get the other one for half-price. Being the bargain shopper that I am, I went back to the family and pitched my position. Since Fiona and Punchie appeared to be “twins” (they came to NOAH on the same day and from the same location), they were so much like Sammy, and it would only cost an additional $50, let’s keep the girls together! My significant other thought I’d lost my mind! We brought both of the girls home with us and have never looked back or regretted our decision. Lucy (fka Fiona) and Lily (fka Punchie) has brought us so much happiness and hours of entertainment. I can not express how much we have thoroughly enjoyed them. While they aren’t twins and may not even be related, they are the best additions to our family we could have asked for. I never thought I would have gotten two cats at the same time. The family actually thought it would be more work than we could handle; especially, with the other pets (i.e., making the transition and introductions). Guess what? It was a breeze! If anyone is interested in getting a cat, think about taking advantage of the adoption special. Not only are you helping NOAH place a defenseless, homeless animal, you will be adding hours, days, weeks, months, and years of unconditional love, happiness and entertainment. With wags, scratches, barks and meows, Shari Echo From Adopter Julie: To all N.O.A.H. Volunteers, Last month my daughter and I drove up from Monroe to N.O.A.H. to adopt a cat. I came wanting to adopt a cat with a certain type of personality. I wanted a friendly cat that was a lap cat. I brought a book to read so I could spend time in your visiting rooms with each cat. I wanted to see if the cat truly was a lap cat and whether the cat would initiate sitting in my lap. We decided to adopt Echo (whose new name is Juno). I truly appreciate that the actual adoption process was quick and painless. We had a wonderful experience at your facility. I really appreciate everyone's help and patience as we took our time trying to find the right cat for our family. The facility is wonderfully accommodating and the visiting rooms are a brilliant idea. They allowed us the time and environment to choose the right cat. Gumby and Jeepers Letter from their new adopters: Hi N.O.A.H. Staff and volunteers!
From her new Mom, Cheryl: "Here is a picture of Beauty, n.k.a., now known as, Gerty and her "big" brother Gus. As you can see they're getting along so well! She is also having fun playing with our young cat, Fritz. We have really enjoyed watching her get her confidence. I just wanted to let you know that we're so happy we adopted Gerty!"
Savanah From her adopter's Son, Scott:
"Savanah sleeps with mom every night and spends a lot of her day on mom’s lap as well… For an 84 year old woman who just a few months ago lost her last cat (of seven) and then left her home to move into assisted living this has really brighten up mom’s life. She swore that she would not get another cat after she left her home to move into assisted living but I knew after taking her to lunch at the Olive Garden in Mount Vernon that if I mentioned that NOAH was on the way home and didn’t she want to see where Bessie and Andy (Andy Barker now) came from she couldn’t say no. And I knew that if you had an orange cat in house that mom wasn’t walking out without it!"
"My daughter and I originally went looking for one kitty but instead were blessed with two. They were called a "bonded pair" and needed to be adopted together. I was nervous about getting two kitties at the same time because I was not sure if that would be too much for us to take on. It turned out to be one of the best decisions I have ever made. They never get lonely and always take care of each other. I cant put into words how much we love them and we are so grateful that they are in our lives."
